We have helped hundreds of people of all ages overcome back pain and injury, achieve new levels of fitness, improve mobility and strength, and best of all, prevent recurring injuries.
It is now over 12 months since I started regularly going to the Optimum Movement Centre (OMC). After years of sitting for long extended periods, either with long haul flying, or at my desk at work, not only did I slowly lose mobility, but started to experience back pain and incur injuries. After years of Physiotherapy and Chiropractic corrections, nothing seemed to be reversing the underlying problem just offering short term relief to the symptoms.
In December 2016, while participating in the Yellow Belt Group classes, I suffered an injury to my back with bulging discs. Whilst Medical Practitioners were recommending surgery to stop the pain by numbing my nerve endings so I couldn’t feel the pain, or welding several vertebrae together, at 37 I felt there had to be a better way that didn’t involve permanent lifelong restriction.
As I had been training with Mark Bolton, who assisted Master Rob to prepare the OMC, I was aware of what the facility might be able to offer. So, when Master Rob, offered me the opportunity to experience the facility, I took the opportunity immediately. Within the first couple of months, I started to see an improvement with my mobility and range of motion. Then the range started to also build strength. With committing to two sessions a week with Nick May, who challenges you every session to take on a little bit more every time, I now have a lot more confidence in my bodies capability and left the fear of injury behind.
Today, not only do I not suffer from any back pain, I haven’t had any further injuries, as the muscles have slowly built up to protect and support my back.
As for what the OMC has done for my Arakan, well that’s a whole nother story. Now that I do not fear suffering an injury and improved my motion and strength, the balance in my round house kicks, and power from my core, is something I couldn’t have dreamt of. Whilst I am a testimony of what the OMC has to offer, participants need to appreciate it is not a quick fix solution. It will produce results, and provide a long term solution, but it does take a regular ongoing commitment.

I have been going to the Optimum Movement Centre for 10 weeks and under the guidance of their professional trainers have seen a vast improvement in my body. I was involved in an accident that resulted in a chronic injury to my back and even after years of therapy I would still have to spend 30mins every morning stretching so that I was able to get out of bed in the morning. I was restricted in movement and not able to lift anything over 10kgs. Having the back injury and being in constant pain took a strain on my job and held me back from fully participating in Arakan Martial Arts.
Going to OMC has helped me in many ways, I have increased energy levels and have become more flexible with reduced pain in my back. I highly recommend the Optimum Movement Centre to anyone.

About 10 months ago I ruptured the L5 disc in my lower back and was not able to walk, lost most of my range of movement and was hospitalised. The doctor told me I had to give up training and get disc replacement surgery. Thankfully Rob Kyaw from Arakan Martial Art recommended I heal myself using the specialised equipment at the Optimum Movement Centre.
I have been going to the OMC since I hurt my back and under the expert training and guidance of Nick I have been able to fully recover and am actually now stronger and more flexible than I was before I hurt my back... all without medication or surgery.
I highly recommend the OMC to anyone with an injury that wants to recover in a safe environment or anyone looking to effectively improve their strength and functional movement.
My body has really improved in the short time I have been training in the Optimum Movement Centre. I was suffering from lower back pain on a regular basis. The strictly controlled movement provided by the machines have allowed me to build strength through slow controlled movements rather than using brute force. I no longer get back pain and also my flexibility has greatly improved along with my strength. I would recommend anyone even if they have no body issues to train at the Optimum Movement Centre to gain strength, flexibility, and agility which in the long term will prevent injuries.
Before starting at the Optimum Movement Centre, my body was in a place that definitely wasn't happy with me due to previous injuries that had happened over the years of my life. I'd been in several big car accidents (one where we hit a tree sideways a 80km/hr as a passenger), a bike & car accident when I was 10 years old (which left me with facial injuries), a few sporting accidents & have always had trouble with my legs where running for longer than 5 minutes has been a problem for most of my life.
Due to the combination of these things I would usually have trouble sleeping, walking, running, siting for longer than 30 minutes, most if not everyday my legs would usually be aching, numb, burning, pins & needles or just feel like they had concrete blocks attached to them.
I got to a point where I thought this was just how it was gonna be, this is how my body was going to work for the rest of my life & it was just something that I was gonna have to deal with. I know there are a lot of people out there way, way worse off than me so I just thought harden up you'll be right.
After the very first session in the Optimum Movement Centre I was pumped! I could finally see a way with the machines, care & knowledge that has been put into that place I could finally get my body to a point where I could function "normally" day to day without pain but not only that, after being in there for a few months I can see my body getting to a point where I can achieve so many new amazing things.
Even when my body has not been happy with me or I've aggravated a previous injured the recovering time is significantly shorter.
In the short time I have been at the Optimum Movement Centre I have seen a dramatic change in all areas of my life! I sleep so much better, the multiple drives to Brisbane each week no longer effect me, I can train & teach Arakan Martial Art without feeling like my body is going to give out or hit a brick wall or my spine is going to snap in half.
I really can't say enough amazing things about the way in has changed to quality of my life & would recommend it to literally everyone!! Whether you are young, old, female, male, injured, no injured it will improve your quality or life & the understanding of your own body.
Seriously give it ago you won't regret it & you'll ask yourself why you didn't try it sooner!!
About 4mths ago I was advised I had a pinched nerve, due to a combination of bad posture while sitting at a desk all day, no doubt holding a bit of stress in my shoulders and a lack of muscle strength in my lower to mid back, my right shoulder blade had rotated forward and pinched a nerve. I stared visiting the Optimum Movement Centre once a week, they were very accommodating with a variety of session times that I could choose from to fit in with my work schedule. I’m happy to say that my shoulder has not only made a full recovery but I’m also feeling stronger in my body in general, I’m no longer getting pins and needles during the day or pain down my arm and I can sleep through the night. Through strengthening my core and my back I have also noticed I’m no longer suffering from as many migraines as I used to. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to attend the Optimum Movement Centre and for the patience and knowledge from Nick who has educated me on the use of the machines and helped me improve my overall strength and fitness.
